- Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and display name.
- Location data: With your permission, we collect your device's location to show nearby garage sales and send relevant push notifications. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
- Sale listings: If you post a sale, we collect the details you provide including address, description, dates, photos, and categories.
- Push notification token: We store your device's push notification token (provided by Expo/Apple/Google) to send you alerts about nearby sales. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
- Usage data: We may collect basic app usage data such as pages visited and features used to improve the app.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To show you garage sales near your location
- To send push notifications when new sales are posted nearby
- To allow you to post, edit, and manage your own sale listings
- To display your sale listing to other users of the app

4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Sale listings: Information you include in a public sale listing (title, address, photos, categories, dates) is visible to all users of SaleSpotter.
- Service providers: We use Cloudinary for photo storage. Photos you upload are stored on Cloudinary's servers. We use Expo's push notification service to deliver notifications to your device.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by DigitalOcean. We use HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between the app and our servers. We implement industry-standard security practices to protect your information.
Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using industry-standard algorithms.
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Location: You can deny or revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings. The app will still work but will require you to enter a zip code to find nearby sales.
- Push notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.
- Account deletion: To delete your account and all associated data, email us at support@salespotter.tech and we will process your request within 30 days.
- Data access: To request a copy of the data we hold about you, contact us at the email above.
7. Children's Privacy
SaleSpotter is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
8. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Cloudinary — photo storage
- Expo — push notification delivery
- DigitalOcean — server hosting
9. Changes to This Policy
